FEBRUARY 2014

Niki Korth kicked off the evening with a dual reading from her chapbook Split / Frame–a collection of conversations between herself and character Kiki North, as they explore symbolism, narrative, viewership and much more in the video works by Pabi Chulo, Omer Gal and Evie Leder. Writers Chris Kerr and John Sakkis also brought their finest to the mic, against the hypnotic backdrop of Rachel Clarke’s projection, Terra Incognita.

Oakland all-star poets Stephanie Young, Taylor Brady and Sara Wintz helped us toast our anniversary, as Featherboard Writing Series and Aggregate Space Gallery look back on two years of collaborative lit and art programming. Steffi Drewes’ new chapbook Magnetic Forest added to the group exhibition, Not Each, But All, featuring multimedia work by the founders of ASG.

SEPTEMBER 2013

A night of storytelling in all shapes and soundscapes with Cedar Sigo, Mary Burger and Writer-in-Residence Maisha Z. Johnson. Johnson’s fierce new chapbook, Split Ears, offers her own readaptations of southern blues and trickster stories, inspired by artist Christopher Burch’s multimedia installation, The Missed-Adventures of Br’er Rabbit and Br’er Death in the Land of Shadows.

JUNE 2013

This month the gallery said Enough Already–presenting a collection of artwork that’s too cute, too normal, too violent, too sexual, and too boring! Writers Hollie Hardy, Geraldine Kim, Hugh Behm-Steinberg and artist Daniel Yovino responded in kind with electric poems, stories and performances so honest and awkward and sweet and compelling, we couldn’t look away.

OCTOBER 2012

Michelle Puckett, Myron Michael and Cynthia Sailers wowed at this month’s event, Shifting Margins. The exhibition featured visaul works on display in two gallery locations–Red Poppy Art House in San Francisco (the perceived cultural and social center in the Bay Area) and Aggregate Space in Oakland (the “marginal” sister city often publicized for racial and social upheaval).

DECEMBER 2011

Thanks to everyone who came out to join us for our inaugural event in December!

Our first reading coincided with the multimedia art show OSTRANENIE: Reconsidering the Known (curated by Jennifer Rarick). Poets Trevor Calvert, Steffi Drewes and Sara Mumolo shared their work and tackled the concept of ‘making the familiar unfamiliar.’
